This position is responsible for ensuring environmentallysafe disposal or redeployment of Praxair assets that are excess, obsolete, orhave reached the end of their operational life. This position is alsoresponsible for supporting the strategic sourcing process of regionally scopedcommodities.
This position identifies and develops the Asset RecoveryProgram strategy, which includes recycling, disposal, and related services thatare needed to process the redeployment and sale of scrap, excess and obsoleteassets across Praxair.This positionwill lead the global roll out of the asset recovery/resale program that hasbeen implemented in the Americas.
This position will report into the Operations Procurement Director.However, as we roll out this programglobally, this position may report to a global procurement director based inEurope.Incumbents in this position provide directmanagement to Asset Recovery Administrator and provides strategic direction toSourcing Managers and Associate Buyers. This position also provides guidance toglobal SBUs in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety Procurement,Asset Recovery, and Sustainable Development projects.
Ensure effective management of theCorporation’s idle and surplus assets. Identify innovative strategies andmethods for maximizing sustainability, minimizing waste, and maximizing returnon Praxair’s assets
Develop a marketing plan andmanage disposition of surplus, obsolete, and end of lifecycle materials andequipment purchased by Praxair’s SBU’s, in a manner that optimizes the overallreturn for the Corporation.
Administer Praxair policies andprocedures governing the sale and disposition of excess or obsolete assetsacross all SBU’s. Establish short- and long-term goals and objectives with eachSBU.
Administer and maintain GlobalRedeployment Center (GRC), a web-based tool for employees across theCorporation to identify idle and surplus assets to be entered into the AssetRecovery process.
Manage the Asset Recovery processto ensure that it complies with all regulatory, environmental, legal, tax,accounting, real estate, and ethical guidelines established for the dispositionof assets across the Corporation.
Interface with SBU executivemanagement to scope projects, develop strategy and present safe, effective, andprofitable solutions to sell/redeploy plants and associated equipment andassets.
Negotiate and manage consignmentand auction partnerships for the sale/disposition of capital assets withvendors throughout the world.
Manage leasing strategy for theBuffalo, NY region’s multiple warehouses.Use total cost of ownership levers to achieve cost reduction, cycle timereduction, improved service, increased reliability and productivityimprovements.
Bachelor’s Degree required;Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering orrelated fields preferred.
Master's Degree in Procurement,Supply Chain Management, Business; preferred.
At least 4 to 5 years of relatedexperience.
Experience with CommercialContracts, Sales Concepts, and Negotiations.
Knowledge of Industrial GasBusiness and Equipment preferred.
Assertive, good communicationskills.
Ability to demonstrate pastleadership experience.
Ability to travel up to 30%,sometimes with short notice OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
Knowledge of corporate accountingprocedures especially as it applies to valuing inventory and inventory rules.
Working knowledge of environmentalregulations that apply to demolitions and asset and materials disposal.
Strong self-directed professionalwith the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced demanding environment withthe ability to handle multi-tasks, and follow-through.
Strong ability to networkexternally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven self-management,influencing and leadership skills.
Must have highly developedcommunication (verbal & written), interpersonal, organizational,problem-solving, and customer focus skills.
