Continuous Improvement Engineer
Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300 company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies is seekinga Continuous Improve Engineer (CI Engineer). This individual will support our Indianapolis, IN location.
The CI Engineer will support the LeanSigma rollout and culture change efforts required for a successful implementation of a continuous improvement system. This includes Managing for Daily Improvement, facilitating Kaizen events, implementing a robust 5S system, and supporting problem solving efforts.
This individual is also responsible for productivity gains and coordinating the continuous improvement activity on assigned manufacturing and support processes at the facility. This may be accomplished by, but not limited to, leading, facilitating, delegating, hands-on approach, using Lean & Six Sigma tools.
Areas of focus are: Safety, Quality, Process (tooling, equipment, etc.), Efficiency, and Cost Reduction initiatives.
Continuous Improvement Engineer
Lead value stream opportunity identification and improvement plan management for the plant
Implement 5S standards, training, and audit procedures
Lead or facilitate Kaizen events tied to Value stream improvement plan along with sustainment activities to ensure gains are realized
Develop and improve the Managing for Daily Improvement approach and uphold adherence to the standards defined
Coach shop floor leadership on the intentions and use of continuous improvement tools as they pertain to their areas
Promote the importance of continuous improvement through cost effective and creative means
Maintain productivity database and cost savings tracking of continuous improvement activities
Develop the strategy and tracking for all plant cells to achieve highest level of Praxair OpX certification
Execute duties for continuous improvement projects through tools such as Six Sigma, 5S, LEAN, value stream mapping, cell layout, etc.
Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with required safety regulations and quality standards
BS Degree in a technical field
3-10 years’ experience in a process or technical position
Previous manufacturing experience in Quality, Safety, Systems, LEAN, or Six Sigma principles/methodology preferred. Six Sigma trained: Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
Must be able to effectively combine theoretical training with practical experience in a “hands-on” environment
Must have personal computer proficiency, business administration know-how, and able to communicate ideas orally, in writing and lead a project team
