We are currently recruiting for a Design Project Engineer to work in our Mississauga office.
This position coordinates and leads the engineering and design team in the development of civil, mechanical and electrical construction packages for one or more complex projects. The Design Project Engineer is responsible to provide guidance and to manage the Plant Design Team for activities associated with project scope, planning of tasks, and technical support for the completion of construction package development.
Develop plant functional defintion
Prepare optimized plant layouts with consideration for cost and safety.
Organize and lead layout and constructability reviews.
Prepare plant site surveys.
Manage flow of information for the plant design team.
Proactively manage plant design team with respect to scope of work, schedule and cost.
Facilitate team meetings and decisions; provide technical direction to project team members.
Review design issues and lead effortto resolve issues
Maintains a thorough knowledge of Praxair standards, guidelines, safety and operability best practices and industry standards.
Make technical decisions based on full awareness of viability, cost and other benefits.
Interface with internal and external customers, construction contractors and other organizations.
Manage bid and construction package reviews
Support construction management team in field issues.
Responsible for Engineering management of Change for layout and field changes
Provide feedback and capture lessons learned during proposal and projects
Support proposal activity by completing definition packages and completing manpower estimates.
Sets direction and standards on approaches to optimize various equipment installation and plant design challenges
Participates in Design Project Engineer’s Communities of Practice meetings to learn and share best practices and new initiatives.
Job Related Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor of Science in Egineering
5-10 years experience
Has extensive and broad knowledge in a field of specialization and may have knowledge of other fields
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to meet scheduled deadlines
Ability to manage changes
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to support project tasks and construction
PMP Certification preferred
Licensed (PEO) professional engineer or eligible
