PraxairSurface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 300company that supplies atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performancecoatings, and related services & technologies is seeking a Furnace Operatorfor our Indianapolis facility.

TheFurnace Operator performs the operations needed to heat treat, anneal andtemper parts utilizing various high temperature furnaces and ovens. Maintainsthe highest quality and safety standards by following Praxair StandardPractices in all aspects of this job.

Furnace Operator

  • Reviews traveler to confirm purge time and flow rate and approved furnace listing.

  • Ensures that equipment calibration is current, consults furnace schedule to determine furnace availability

  • Sets-up heat treat ovens and furnaces for processes including connection of gas hoses, thermal couplers

  • Manually loads parts onto racking system for ovens

  • Completes Retort Set-up procedures

  • Utilizes forklift, crane and/or hoist to load/unload and seal retorts

  • Completes traveler form indicating part number, part quantity and program utilized for diffusion cycle

  • Completes set-up procedure log sheets for pit and sand seal retorts

  • Quality responsibilities are contained in Praxair QSP – 01, and other Praxair quality documentation

  • Follows all relevant quality procedures contained in Praxair Quality System procedures, Standard Practices, Technical Plans, and Repair Station manuals

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Must be able to read and understand instructions and technical specifications

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure

  • Must be able to operate fork truck, electric hoist and overhead crane.

  • Capable of lifting up to 40lbs

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, hand and finger manipulation, occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing
