Reliability Instrumentation Engineer

Description

We are currently seeking anInstrumentation Reliability Engineer that will be based at our East Chicago, Indianaor Deer Park, Texas location. Thisposition will report to the U.S. Industrial Gas (USIG) Reliability EngineeringManager. The instrumentation reliabilityengineer works with the USIG Reliability team and other corporate/regional/plantpersonnel to achieve strategic reliability goals.

The overall objective of the InstrumentationReliability Engineer is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of productionfacilities at the lowest life cycle cost. The Instrumentation ReliabilityEngineer will be responsible for the identification, development, andimplementation of preventive/predictive programs and corrective maintenancesolutions for instrument systems and equipment in multiple facilities. Thisperson will have the ability to work independently and make technical decisionsbased on full awareness of viability, risk, cost and other benefits.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Developand execute a multi-year instrumentation reliability improvement plan includingthe roll-out of our Instrument Maintenance Management System ProCal to newer facilitiesand business groups while managing ProCal for existing facilities.

  2. Analyze data and information from multiple sources toidentify, recommend and justify life-cycle cost and reliability improvementactivities.

  3. Identify and resolve long-term instrumentation assetconcerns (reliability threats).

  4. Own and lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process formajor failures to assure prevention of re-occurrence.

  5. Review and update instrumentation related StandardMaintenance Procedures (SMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  6. Lead FDA and cGMP validation activities for instrumentationsystems and assets.

  7. Identify and lead continuous improvement projects utilizingSix Sigma methodologies.

  8. Track and report on national KPI’s, compliance and keyinitiatives.

  9. Assist in developing and training new and current instrumentspecialists in the region.

Thisposition requires a combination of office work and field work. Thisposition typically requires short duration domestic travel. Job requires approximately 20% travel. Off-hours accessibility (laptop and cell phone) are occasionally required.

Qualifications

RequiredQualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience or proven experience in specification, installation, troubleshooting, repairs, testing, and calibration of industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.

  2. Proven experience in understanding and interpreting P&ID content and format- including ISA symbology and naming conventions for hardware and software

  3. Proven knowledge of Preventive and Predictive maintenance of industrial instrumentation systems and equipment.

  4. Excellent communication and team interaction skills.

  5. Proven ability to work independently as well as lead teams.

  6. Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.

  7. Computer fluency with standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).

DesiredQualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Controls, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering.

  2. Six Sigma, PHA, and FMEA experience

  3. CMRP or CRE status.

  4. Knowledge and application of industry specific standards and codes (ISA, NEC, NFPA)

  5. Basic understanding of PLC systems (Allen Bradley PLC5, Control Logix) and DCS (DeltaV, Foxboro).

  6. Proven experience in CMMS systems such as Infor EAM and ProCal
